Twerksgiving Camp at Upturn Arts

Upturn Arts is so excited to announce Twerksgiving Camp – a two-day camp intended to guide our young artists toward finding their unique artistic confidence and leading light with a superstar Master Artist Series*, featuring the one and only Big Freedia! Big Freedia, known as the Queen of Bounce, is a New Orleans- based rapper and ambassador of Bounce music. A vibrant twist on hip-hop, Bounce is characterized by call-and-response lyrics over rapid-fire beats and accelerated booty shaking. Master Artists also include Laveau Contraire on Monday with Drag Queen Story Time and Kristin Diable on Monday & Tuesday with a songwriting workshop! *Master Artist Series is sponsored by Positive Vibrations Foundation. Ages 4 – 12 years old Music, Dance, Visual Arts, and Theatre every day. Camp runs daily from 9:00am-4:00pm. The cost for both days is is $120**. There is no daily drop in for this camp. Before and/or after care is available from 8:00am – 5:30pm each day for $20/camp per child or $12/day per child. A nonrefundable registration fee of $5.20 and a one-time supply fee of $5.00 will be charged at registration. The supply fee includes a water bottle and t-shirt. ***Funds are available to reduce the cost of tuition. These funds, or creARTive grants, are awarded to families on a sliding scale based on income. Space permitting, all young artists whose families make $65,000 or less, are eligible for these funds ranging from a 25% to 90% discount on tuition.
